Morphology
Syllable Structure
The Uranakuy syllable structure is identical to that of the Quechua language:
- Initial syllable: (Consonant) - Vowel - (Consonant)
- Non-initial syllables: Consonant - Vowel - (Consonant)
A word cannot end with a sequence of consonants.
Composite words
Composite Words
There is no general rule for the creation of composite words. Sometimes words are separated by a stop (') symbol, while in others the last consonant of the previous word will be omitted.
- Uranakay (common tongue) = Uran (ours) + Nakuy (tongue/language)
- Wara'hap (holy sun) = Wara (holy) + Hap (sun)
Words can also be cut arbitrarily to obtain a sound that flows better or to match a pattern.
- Hap'ti = Hap (sun) + Tiya (animal)
- Liyap'ti = Liyasi (moon) + Tiya (animal)
Adjective Order
Adjectives always come before nouns.
